A friendly way to mingle
Ask a willing participant whether a square describes them. If they say yes, mark it; use a simple tick rather than collecting names. A row, column, or diagonal of five finishes your board. The middle square is free. Invite a new conversation after each mark when the group size allows.
- Give each person a different board. Explain the free middle square and the right to pass.
- Invite optional conversations. Mark a square only after someone chooses to confirm it.
- Stop at the agreed time or the first line of five. Offer a seated or pair version for anyone who prefers it.
The PDF contains four reproducible boards, a full prompt list, and host rules. Online, choose Board or List view; both use the same 24 prompts and marks. List view opens by default on small screens. The seed recreates a board for the same setting and question revision.
